The World Health Organisation recognised yesterday, April 7th, as World Health Day: a day dedicated to advocating for good health and healthcare for ourselves and others all over the world. We know just how important it is to make an effort to be healthy, even more so considering the pandemic. That is why here at Irish Community Services, we host an array of activities that promote both physical and mental wellness.
Online chair exercise class
Every Wednesday at 1pm, Jo hosts an online chair exercise class on Zoom at no cost that is beginner-friendly and is an easy, social way to make sure you are getting some movement in. It is so easy to spend the days sat down or simply moving from the sofa to the kitchen to the bed and repeat so give this class a go for some low-impact activity- it will make all the difference.
Walk N Talk and walking group
Our Walk N Talk program allows you to go on a socially distanced walk with an ICS be-friender volunteer around an outdoor space. These sessions are not only great for your physical health, but also your mental health where you can have a nice chat about anything you’d like. Talk about two birds one stone! As restrictions ease, we hope to reinstate our walking groups where more of you can meet and have a long-awaited catch-up.
Good news café, carers chat group and more...
Your mental health is just as important as your physical, so we host a Good News Café every Monday at 3pm where we share and receive good news from one another. It is such a breath of fresh air and positivity and a lovely start to the week. You’ll leave the session with a smile on your face and feeling mentally revitalised. We also have our carers chat group which is a supportive and friendly space for carers to interact, our weekly Friday games night and more!
