To say our volunteers are helpful would be a massive understatement. Our volunteers are truly indispensable and such an integral part of the Irish Community Services team. This Volunteers' Week, we want to recognise them and show our gratitude.
From helping from home, to hitting the roads for us, our volunteers contribute in so many different ways:
Be-frienders
Our be-frienders ring clients and check in with them, offering support, providing information or simply lending an ear to chat. A special thank you to Mary and Sylvia, two of our be-frienders who work tirelessly to ensure that everyone gets a call.
Walking group volunteers
Our walking group volunteers have been wonderful as we have expanded our walking project into the Active Ageing Walking Project. Thank you to all the volunteers assisting with this initiative.
Online community volunteers
When the pandemic struck, triggering the launch of our online community project, our wonderful volunteers were right there to support us. Thank you to those who have assisted with our online sessions and continue to do so to this day. A special thank you, also, to Sean who does a brilliant job hosting our virtual Friday bingo games.
Volunteer drivers
Where would we be without our volunteer drivers! From delivering packages to our clients, to collecting things and more- our driver volunteers are truly invaluable.
We cannot reiterate or stress just quite how important our volunteers are to us. We are so incredibly grateful to have them so, to all of our volunteers, thank you- you are so appreciated.
